Who were Dear Girl and DM? Were they able to meet Thursday afternoon And why was this letter saved for over 200 years?

Dear Girl

I rejoice to hear that you hope and trust you have a hope that you belong to the family of God. This Miss is one of the greatest blessings you can enjoy. I feel at times so worldly minded that it appears impossible that I can be a child of God. O that God by his grace would again pour his spirrit and cause you and I to me more engaged in his service. I have been very anxious to hear from you before Ive recv you letter[.[ but to my great disappointment I find you are no better  feeling that anxiety for you which becometh a husband and Wife I cannot help shading tears when I review your letter  I would deserve to have you in the hands of God[.] in his hands who is able to kill and to make alive. O that God if consistent with his will might restore you to health and enable us to rejoice together. I cannot express to you my feelings on this subject. It is with pain I think that we must not be united by tenderer this that we have ever yet been  I do not with to discourage you as well as myself[.] but I feel fearful that yours is dangerous. But why should man repine against of God[.] he knows what is best for you and I Should God afflict me in this way and at this time I cannot conceive what would come nearer me  You Miss whose concerns have been near to me  I cannot forbear opening to you mind with the warmest sensations of love and respect. And now for a moment conceive my feelings when I think we must be sepperated  believe me to be yours by the ties of respect and affection
